Carbon projects Edincik WPP and Sena HEPP receive sustainability award

ISTANBUL, 10 February 2016 - Edincik wind power plant and Sena hydropower plant have been recognised for their efforts to develop their renewable energy project as carbon projects. Both projects received the awards from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and partners during a ceremony in Istanbul.

Rönesans Holding received their sustainability award in the category “Most Advanced Carbon Credit Project” for their SENA hydroelectric power plant. This hydropower plant is registered under the Verified Carbon Standard and has over 20,000 carbon credits available for immediate sale. The project has been financed with a loan of €25 million from Garanti Bank under MidSEFF.

“The Largest CO2 Emission Reduction Project” Award was given to the 56.4 MW Edincik wind power plant. This project is registered under the Gold Standard. Over the coming months initial emission reductions will be verified. Edincik received a €15 million loan from Isbank also under MidSEFF.
